Keeping a Safe Distance from Management Stress

You finally got your well-deserved promotion. After working years and years on proving your worth, having been recognized for your efforts and getting that sizeable increase is making all the hard work well worth it.

But then again you didn’t count on all the pressure the new job comes with. You suddenly notice that you’re always tired, irritable and hardly gets any sleep, in other words you’re all stressed out. Managing an office is not a simple task, as it seems. The responsibilities that can come with the job can be quite tremendous and for lesser people a breakdown is not uncommon. Management stress is a common occurrence with upper management.

Keeping Away from Management Stress

So as to not succumb to management stress, a person must be able to discipline him or herself. Have a proper work, rest and play schedule. Keeping yourself organized won’t let you get stressed out.

Know your responsibilities and organize them according to their priority. Bering able to effectively divide the work is a sign of a true manager, which makes the workload light for everybody. Properly dividing responsibilities won’t provide pressure to a single person which will make production faster.

Set attainable goals. If you keep on promising numbers and figures that are hardly realistic would provide unnecessary pressure and would contribute a lot to the stress factor.

Get along with your employees. Avoid letting them exploit it though, you are still the boss, set certain ground rules and an invisible line wherein you can still be in a good boss-employee relationship and still get the respect you deserve.

Management stress should get the best of you. Learn and research well your new position and live a healthier and stress-free life.

What If You Were Persecuted?

I’m a metaphysician and as such I believe that there is one universal source energy (call it what you will), that each of us is made up of that source energy, and that my thoughts affect my life experience. It is a philosophy that embraces the core of all the world’s great religions. It can sometimes be seen by some as a little “wu wu” and is occasionally subject to expressions of uncertainty by those who do not know what it means. Which leads me to my point.

I mean this as a philosophical statement, not a political one, but when the results of the last election came in, for the first time in my 73 years, it occurred to me that I might be the subject of religious persecution. And in this country of freedom, that gave me deep pause. There seemed to be people saying, “Our way is the only way.” And they were in “power.” What if they came knocking on my door and said, “You can’t believe what you believe or we’ll throw you in jail, or beat you, or make you leave your home and country.” What would I do?

I derive such great comfort from my spiritual philosophy. It is a source of positive action through which I can change my life experience. It is a source of inner wisdom when I have a question. It is a philosophy that tells me every one of us is made up of the same source energy so why would we ever be thoughtless or mean to another? It asks me to be accepting of everyone because it is “me” in that other person, that what I see in them is a reflection of my inner consciousness. My spiritual philosophy is core to my existence. I could never give it up. My response to my initial apprehension of the possibility of spiritual persecution was to think of leaving the country, something I had never before considered. And I do know there were lots of meetings in the area at the time explaining what it would mean to migrate to Canada.

Fear is what lies behind persecution and intolerance. Fear of something different, fear from not understanding, fear of lack of control, fear of change.

A few years ago I learned Falun Gong (www.falundafa.org) It is a lovely moving meditation in the genre of Tai Chi. Every morning, after a few hours of work in my home office, I go to my front porch, stand in the sunshine, and do Falun Gong. Within seconds of beginning my mind starts to calm from its busy pattern, I can feel my energy balance and my whole body align. It is incredibly soothing. I have not read the books about its philosophy but I do know it is said to have encouraged self-healing in others. I simply like how balanced it makes me feel.

In China people are persecuted and killed for doing Falun Gong! It’s meditation! It’s moving into a peaceful inner space—and it is feared and persecuted by a government.

My oldest grandson has let us know that he is gay. That has easily been accepted by our family, but he happens to live in a part of the country where homosexuals have been beaten and killed for simply being who they are. So here I am, aware that a beloved member of my family, who is smart and creative, an eagle scout, a college student who is already a contributing member of our society, could be persecuted for what is probably a genetic based expression.

We are afraid when others seem to make different choices than we do. We don’t even stop to think that we are all expressions of the same source energy. And we may say and do things that do not express our innate oneness with every living thing.

Have I touched on all the hot spots yet? For centuries conquering nations have told the people they invaded that they must give up their culture, their ways, their very religion and embrace that of the conquer.

Take a moment to think of a core value you hold. What if a core value were integrity and someone told you that you had to lie and cheat and steal? Would you do it? Even when it went against everything you have built your life on? A major core value for me is freedom. What spiritual belief do you hold that is core to your spiritual expression? How would you feel if someone demanded that you give it up! What would you do?

If you took that moment to find a quality of value and to understand how it would feel to be denied it, I have accomplished my task. Knowing how it feels to be criticized or mistreated for a belief that is an integral part of you, will you now be more aware of your own thoughts of intolerance toward others, your careless words that wound, your actions that exclude those who are different?

All change starts within each one of us. If you move forward into this day expressing love and compassion for all and I move forward into this day expressing love and compassion and inclusion of all, we have started a trend that by its very energy will move out into the world and be felt and embraced by others.

Will you join me?

Everything Is Energy

Don’t you often marvel at how diverse and beautiful this planet is, and how extraordinary it is that we’re a tiny speck hurtling through space at thousands of miles an hour?

Think of the huge oceans and the peaks of distant mountains. Grasses nudged by a gentle wind on a spring day. Think of a cat sitting on a gate, washing its face. All these beautiful things resonate with an energy that, if you allow yourself to be open enough to receive it, will resonate with the deepest part of your being in a profound and wonderful way.

That resonance is the universal vibration in all things. Rocks, plants, the birds and animals, and the fish in the sea. Rivers and ice and restless seas. You and me. The whole world.

Listen to the wind high in the trees and watch the treetops bend and play in its current. Watch fish leap high in rivers, and feel the grass growing under your feet. Think about the healing energy you transmit in a loving embrace, or the touch of your hand on a shoulder.

Energy is what connects all things from the most microscopic of elements to the wildest of storms. It is the universal life force.

You can feel it inside yourself - not only the heartbeat that pumps oxygen into your muscles and lungs but the deep vibration of truth that sings in your heart and in your soul. And energy cannot stay still - it lights up your eyes and transmits to the world around you; you cannot help but be drawn to energy that flows from someone in tune with their inner vibration.

Think of the way the sun draws flowers from their buds and encourages plants to grow. Think of the way the heat of the sun persuades a flower to give up its scent and how it warms water - think of all the energy released in these simple things and imagine how intense that energy field will be around a flower or a flowing stream.

And now think of how your inspiration and strength of purpose fires up your spirit, and how your enthusiasm lights up the air around you and draws others to you. Remember that energy is dynamic and that you are filled with energy. It radiates from you.

Let it radiate from your heart and soul.

Is Aging A Mental Virus - If So, What Is The Anti-Virus

“Age is nothing in itself, but when you accept the idea of age and its limitations for yourself, that is bad.”
- Paramahansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi

To those of us interested in living life to the fullest, the question of age and aging must be taken into consideration. To sociologists, age is a socially constructed trait closely tied to limitations; in traditional Western medicine, aging is an inevitable process of living; however, to the yogi and to the believer in the power of thought over matter, aging is merely a mental virus brought on by social expectations–a virus that can be cured through an “anti-virus” consisting of super-consciousness; and by applying the law of attraction–or the internalization of positive thoughts and habits.

Until recently, this sort of expanded consciousness has been limited to a small group of people. However, after the success of films such as The Secret (2006) and What the Bleep Do We Know (2004)it seems that the masses are beginning to seriously consider the connection of thought to ‘reality’. With that awakening, there is also the hope that we can affect dramatic changes in our lives. Speaking for myself, this has certainly been the case.

The correlation between thought and reality is the basis for many religions, particularly those which honor the power of silent and positive prayer (or thought) as the basis for their beliefs. The most commonly known established paradigm in the Western scientific community that supports the power of thought is what is still termed the placebo effect (Dr. Henry K. Beecher, 1955), wherein people react to what they believe to be true, whether it ‘is’ or not. Today, quantum mechanics (QM) and evolutionary psychology apply the power of thought over matter as a basis for further research.

More convincingly, anyone can easily test the power of thought based on your own experiences. Through taking a conscious inventory of any one day or event, you might notice that what you believe or expect will happen, usually does. Further, we usually believe something will happen because of our past experiences, or through the knowledge of a certain natural or man-made law.

For the adventurous, one can also find evidence of the power of human thought as a universal force. One hypothesis to this end is what is known as “The Hundredth Monkey Effect; Environmental Influence and our Habits are also important ingredients in the unfolding of this mystery. The Hundredth Monkey Effect (for those of you who are unaware of its origin) is an observation of a colony of macaque monkeys on the Japanese island of Koshima in the 1950’s that suggests that once a certain number of group members learn a new trait, the same trait will show up in members of the same kind without any physical contact taking place (perhaps elaborate a little here). Although the observation and its conclusions are somewhat disputed, our own experience tells us that if a certain critical percentage of the population starts to learn to do something, it quickly spreads to the rest of the society–such as something as mundane as fashion.

As a speaker of English, Swedish, and Czech, and a bi-continental resident, I base some of my acceptance of the power of thought on my experiences learning another language in the countries of origin. Under these conditions, I have been surprised to discover how much people speak without thinking. In fact, when we speak, we pretty much operate only with our intention. The actual process of speaking is a subconscious act. One of these subconscious patterns seems to occur when people are getting to know me. They inevitably ask the question, “What do you do for a living?” and “How old are you?” there it is! Age consciousness. Beware… When I tell them my age, they immediately look at me and refocus their opinion of me. I can see it in their eyes.

So, what are people thinking when they ask what age you are? To me, it seems that most people are projecting a judgment of who you are, who you were, and who you will be. For example, if you look younger than you say you are, they are thinking that you must have good genes–or that perhaps you have lived a life away from the sun, etc. However, if you look older than you say you are, they might conclude that you must have bad genes, or that you have spent too much time in the sun. In some situations, they might even be thinking about your death. In fact, it occurs to me that the subconscious and conscious thoughts and images that we hold related to age are overly prevalent and, almost always negative. Therefore, we must use our thoughts even more energetically to repel negative thoughts or prejudice. In other words, drop age-consciousness and practice positive thinking by applying the law of attraction.

This is a totally different way to look at things, isn’t it? Since we know that thoughts seem to hold the most power in our lives than any other factor, could it be that thoughts are the elixir of youth as well? If it’s true that everything in our life that we perceive as real is held in our mind, and our mind dwells on it over and over again, shouldn’t we examine our thoughts more ‘thoughtfully’? You will most certainly find, through such analysis, that your thoughts are full of rules and images that confirm your current reality–as well as project an image of a future.

So, is the mind just reacting to what it sees in the outside world and there is nothing we can do or should do about this? Fortunately, based on my knowledge from a degree in physics, I must say, “No,” because in Quantum Mechanics (QM) there is no action-reaction principle. What you have instead is mutual 100% agreement of all parties involved. Every particle in the universe, forwards and backwards in time must all agree that something is going to happen, did happen, or is currently happening. That would include the neurons in your brain. Therefore, if the brain is the instrument holding the images that seem to reflect the reality outside of you, then can you change the images and then the reality outside of you would change also? I mean according to QM, that has to be true and since QM applies to all particles across the entire universe, then this statement must be true. Also, it must transcend time and space as well.

In sum, whether you have truly accepted the power of thought as your most valuable asset, at least give it a ’shot.’ At least, as a shot against the “Mental Virus” commonly known as aging.

What’s In Your Closet - Ghosts Or Angels?

Throughout our lives we collect memories, some happy and others sad. These experiences affect how we develop and think about ourselves. As hard as it might be to believe, how we respond to those memories affects what happens to us.

We don’t purposely think about these past events, but they do affect our thoughts on a sub-conscious level. As a result, they can have a drastic impact on how we conduct ourselves, how we deal with adversity and how successful we become.

We’ve all had happy memories. Those are the ones we want to linger forever. The more happy memories, the happier we become and the better we feel about life and our role in it. For some, sad memories linger far too long and they can influence our happiness or lack of it.

Interesting facts have emerged recently through ongoing research into what makes us happy and what makes us sad, and how it affect our lives.

There is a universal energy force that is affected by each one of us by how we think and the energy we feed into the system. How it affects us is determined by how we think, like the old adage, “you get out what you put in”. If we constantly think positive, more happiness will be sure to follow and if we focus on the negative, the general outcome is unhappiness.

Some people have many bad memories related directly to unpleasant and painful events in our lives. It’s not easy to forget the pain and what it has done to us over time. One bad event after another can do significant harm to our ego and sense of worth and happiness.

Research has produced evidence that people who suffer ongoing bad experiences attract more of the same because of their attitude towards them. There are people who can jump ahead of the pain and remain optimistic and positive, while others become increasingly pessimistic and negative. They reach the point that nothing seems to go right, despite their efforts. Eventually, they just give up.

Their lives have become overwhelmed with depression and sadness. The longer this depression lasts, the more difficult it is to be positive about anything, and the more difficult it is to recover.

More often than not, the perpetual bad events are “created” by our reactions to them and whether we can truly overcome them and stay positive.

Positive, optimistic people somehow manage to overcome adversity, including even the worst catastrophes, with amazing success. Nothing gets them down for long. It boils down to how they think about themselves, life in general and their experiences in it. In effect, what they do is surround themselves with “angels” – those positive helpful universal forces that attract only good and enable them to move on and be successful.

Negative, pessimistic people, on the other hand, are burdened by the negative energy that comes from their negative response to life. They often dwell on the mounting “bad luck” that seems to fill their lives, thereby attracting more of the same. Without meaning to, they surround themselves with “ghosts” from their past and add more “ghosts” with every bad experience.

Powering up our thinking with positive energy is proven to have a major impact on our lives, but it has been getting a bad rap from disbelievers of this powerful force. Positive thinking is more than just thinking everything will work out, when realistically this is not always possible. Bad things do happen to everyone and they don’t always turn out well.

What positive thinking truly means is to think positively about who we are, how we have grown and developed, and being happy with ourselves as a whole. It means believing in our ability to handle any adversity that comes along and use that self-assurance to work through the bad things that happen to us.

Positive thinking means having confidence in our abilities to recover, move on and be happy. Rather than thinking about the negative outcome that’s sure to happen, think about the potential good instead.

Surrounding ourselves with “angels” instead of “ghosts” will attract the positive energies in the universe and with them will come a happier life filled with great potential.

How To Build Self-Esteem?

There are many ways to build self-esteem like positive self-talk, developing new skills, doing the thing you like to do, working out, having good relationships and helping other people. But in this article I want to introduce you one of the most destructive and life-ruining habits we have – comparison.

The habit to compare, like most of our habits, comes from the childhood. Can you remember you parents saying: “Look at that boy/girl sitting quiet. He/she is good.” Or “Why did you get an “F” at math test when nobody in you class did”. Then your friend could tell you something like “I have this new computer I can play and you don’t” Then our TV and press having all their charts of who is better and who is not. All mentioned above develops the habit to compare everything and everyone.

Self-esteem is not about comparison. Comparison can lift you up on a short period of time, when you feel that you are greater than someone physically, financially or socially. But the moment someone who you think is better than you appears, the level of your self-esteem decreases. Self-esteem is about feeling great all the time 24/7. It is a state of mind where you don’t need to compare anymore. You know that it is just you – absolutely unique, with your own talents and way of thinking, with your special goal to achieve on this Planet.

Just think about it! What’s the point of comparing yourself with someone else? Every one has different values and goals, different life views and different DNA.

You can build you self-esteem giving more time to develop yourself spiritually and finding out who you really are and what you want to accomplish during your life. And here is the clue. All the time you spend talking about others, comparing yourself to others, judging and gossiping; you could spend reading motivational books, learning some foreign language, doing volunteer work, and working on your goals. Talking bad about others and gossiping, comparing yourself, trying to look better that others take so much time and energy that none is left on the things that truly matter.

Always remember that you are one of a kind, unique and perfect. You just have to realize you special purpose and try to live for it. Have 100% pleasure of the things you do and life you live. Don’t spend you valuable time on comparing yourself to others, because there is so much for you to accomplish. So start building you self-esteem right now and always remember –you are one of a kind.

Wake Up - Your Life is Happening (Part 1)

Good morning…are you awake this morning? Are you awake to your life? Are you awake to possibilities? Are you conscious that you are living? I apologize to have to tell you this but it takes more then a cup of coffee to wake up to life. You can have both eyes fully open and still be in a full slumber of what your life is about.

So how do you know if you are awake and in a state of awareness? There are various methods of knowing but here are a few sure ways of testing your state of wakefulness and consciousness. If you can relate and you understand the methods listed below then I congratulate you…you are taking an active part of your life! If the methods make no sense, don’t fret…there are many ways to reaching a state of wakefulness and it’s a wonderful process to take part in; after all this is a wake-up call to your life!

You have the ability to observe your life: You can feel fully assure that you are in a state of consciousness when you can become an observer and guide to your own life. The only way to really take a look at yourself and your life is from miles away and become a detach outsider to your own life. This means you have learned and are able to ask yourself those real hard questions and face the real truths of your life and self. You don’t criticize, judge, condemn, praise, or admire yourself instead you watch, observe, learn and study who you are, what you do, how you react and what you feel. In your state of consciousness and as an outsider to your life (also known as being egoless) you don’t react to life instead you create your realities, circumstances, and outcomes.

You are in control of your life: Being in control of your life is a by product of being in a state of consciousness and awareness as well as a method of knowing. When you are in control of your life it means that outside forces, sources and influences do no control, affect or guide your life. You consider, acknowledge and observe everything you come in contact with but only allow what you need, want and desire to impact your decisions, feelings, moods, thoughts, outlook, behavior, views and so on. Nothing can permeate through and cause a reaction, response or action without your consent.

You feel true compassion for others: When you reach a certain level of consciousness there is a shift that takes place in your heart and soul that makes you very compassionate towards the rest of mankind. You realize the consequences of your actions, words and conduct towards others (family, friends and strangers) because you are cognizant of all the detrimental effects certain actions have had towards you in the past (before you learned to not be affected by them.) You show compassion, kindness, sensitivity; care, concern, understanding and sympathy for what others are experiencing and going through with absolute selflessness.

Everyday is a choice: Here is an interesting mean of knowing that you are in a wakeful state of mind…Everyday you know you have a choice to make to be awake or to close your eyes and door to your consciousness. Living in a state of mindfulness and attentiveness can be very taxing, exhausting and challenging. So everyday and in certain moments if you find yourself wondering if it would be easier to just go with the rest of society, your work environment, friends and family, general opinion and the certain flow that seems to surround you then you definitely are in a wakeful state of mind. You realize that there is a general path you can take, a state of mind you can share with everyone else, a routine you can accept and follow, and a box you can live in. You make the choice everyday to be responsible and accountable to yourself, to be who you are and to be ALIVE. You are conscious and awake and I am extremely proud of you.

Ann Bernard is a professional life coach and strong advocate to helping others realize the importance of living a full and conscious life. It’s so easy to go with the flow and general opinion of others but it does have a price…the price is to never realize your full potential and state of wakefulness. Life is about the here and now and who you are…so why is it so hard to live that way? Visit coachingyourfuture.com coachingyourfuture.com and find out more.

Bible Authority: What Do Jesus and Paul Say?

The claims of Jesus and Paul
Just before ascending back to heaven, Jesus announces, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matthew 28:19). We would do well, therefore, to listen to what Jesus has to say about the Old Testament. Paul, whom Jesus Christ called to be His apostle, writes, “If anyone considers himself to be a prophet, let him acknowledge that what I write to you is the command of the Lord.” The One with “all authority” inspires Paul to write what he does. Therefore, we should listen closely to what Paul says about the Old Testament as well.

Jesus’ use of the Old Testament
When Jesus disputed with the religious leaders of His day (specifically the Sadducees), He told them, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God” (Matthew 22:29). Again and again He declared, “It is written,” a phrase that does not mean the same as “Someone once wrote,” but “It stands written,” or more literally, “It continues in the state of having been written.” An accurate paraphrase of “It is written” would be “It remains valid.” (See Matthew 4:4,7,10; 11:10; 21:13; 26:31; etc.)

Jesus also talks about the meaning of Moses and all the prophets (see Luke 16:29, 31; 24:27), a reference to the entire Hebrew Bible, composed as it is of the Law of Moses (Genesis through Deuteronomy) and the Prophets (the rest of the Old Testament). In another passage, Luke 24:44, He refers to the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, which corresponds to another way of dividing the Hebrew Bible into the Torah (Law of Moses), the Neviim (former and latter prophets), and the Kethuvim (the Writings, of which Psalms is the leading book).

In yet another passage, Matthew 23:35), Jesus also refers to the blood of all the righteous men that has been shed, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, and this A-to-Z range begins with Genesis (the murder of Abel is in Genesis 4:1-16), the first book in the Hebrew order of the Old Testament books. It ends with Chronicles (the murder of Zechariah is recorded in 2 Chronicles 24:20-22), the last book in that order. This passage, therefore, brackets the entire Hebrew Bible, all 22 books, which correspond to the 39 books of the Protestant Old Testament.

Finally, on another occasion, recorded in John 10:35, Jesus says, “Scripture cannot be broken.” In this saying Jesus is confirming the ongoing truth and power of Scripture. The other verses have defined for us what Jesus means by the term “Scripture,” and this verse applies to it all.

Paul’s use of the Old Testament
Paul makes similar affirmations of the authority and inspiration of the Old Testament. He says, for example, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, reproving, and training in righteousness that God’s person may be complete, not lacking in anything” (2 Tim. 3:16-17). He also writes, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Romans 15:4). No clearer validations of the inspiration and authority of the Old Testament could be composed.

Furthermore, Paul again and again says, “It is written,” with the same construction as those found in the sayings of Jesus (see, for example, Acts 13:33; 23:5; Romans 1:17; 2:24; 3:4, 10; 4:17; 8:36; etc.). Paul also uses another introductory formula to a verse he quotes from the Old Testament with a similar meaning: “The Holy Spirit spoke… through Isaiah the prophet” (Acts 28:25).

These examples are sufficient to indicate that both Jesus and Paul regarded the Old Testament as a revelation from God and inspired by His Spirit. You cannot accept the claims of Jesus and Paul without also accepting the inspiration and validity of the Old Testament.

The Language of Numbers

Numbers has held man in fascination way back
in the past and long into the future.

Numbers are involved in almost all aspects of studies,
be it scientific, health and education, in our daily
lives including entertainment.

Numbers carry primary qualities. Numbers have
a place in spirituality; numbers are used as a tool
to take a peak into the future as well as the past.

What is your lucky number? Don’t we all feel
freaky on Friday the 13th ? For 2006, it falls on
October 13th.

In most systems of belief and cultures, numbers
have significance. The premise is that numbers
reflect orderliness. The universe and life itself, on
the whole, is based on infinite orderliness.

Pythagoreans believed that numbers are cosmic
expressions of the divine. Pythagoras particularly
loved number 7.

The world is confronted all the time with chaos and
disorder , man must claim authorship and responsibility.
This earth is adversely affected by man’s insensitivities
to its needs, its rights and its very presence.
Man takes so much for granted.

However, the world goes on. Night follows day, the
seasons come in the same order, spring follows
winter, the earth comes alive and vibrant with summer
Autumn heralds harvest time , a time for thanksgiving
for the fruits of the earth; it is a time for transition
from activity to rest and hibernation in the winter.
So goes the cycle, the orderliness of the universe.

Numbers have their practical interpretations,
applicable to human activities. Everything related
to living involve numbers: age and aging, finances,
relationships, health, education and measurement
of time and space.

Time is a great indicator of the relevance of numbers
in life. This starts from the moment of conception to
birth, to youth, to adulthood to old age and ultimately ,
death. This reflects orderliness to life.

From the depths of spiritual vision and science and
from scientific studies, numerology has evolved.
Numerology is based on an underlying unity that
manifests in life.

Dates of birth and names are believed to be connected
with our deepest inner being. The intuitive mind has
the ability to perceive these relationships that
numbers offer. Numbers can be a helpful tool to
better understand our innermost being, perhaps
help bring order and serve as a tool to find
meaning in our lives

Perhaps, the rational mind will have trouble reconciling
with the relevance of numbers to life. It has been proven
that there are events, occurrences like synchronicity, or
ESP that is beyond the understanding of the rational mind.

Numbers can be interpreted as to their primary qualities.

Advantage of Audio Books

Today, most people are time short. Yet we all waste time.

We waste time standing in queues, waiting because of traffic congestion, waiting for appointments, waiting for trains, buses, Trams, waiting, waiting, waiting. Yet most of us simply accept it as a fact of life today.

It is a fact of life but it doesn’t mean we can’t be doing something else at the same time. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty darn sick of reading old “Women’s Weeklies”, out –of-date “Time Magazines” or “New Ideas” which certainly don’t give me any new ideas. As for “Readers Digest” it may not age like the rest but it still doesn’t make the waiting any more digestible.

If the Dentist, Doctor or candle stick maker, insist on keeping me waiting at least they should be supplying me with up-to-date reading material. But I guess it could be argued that they don’t have to supply me with any material at all to read. But I would answer in which case they shouldn’t be keeping me waiting either.

But the sad fact is they do keep me waiting.

But I have learnt how to use my time in my own way. I now choose what I ‘read’ on my MP3 player and carry it with me all the time. I listen to my chosen book in the car while stopped at traffic snarls; I listen to it while waiting to see the Dentist, the Doctor or while queued up to pay my Electricity bill.

Imagine how grateful I am for electricity. I use this resource to run my computer so I can download my audio book to keep myself entertained or learning while having to queue up to pay for the service that provides all this entertainment.

This is the conundrum people living in a first world country face daily. Queer, isn’t it?
