Managing Time - Something is Better Than Nothing

This time management technique is called “something is better than nothing.” Suppose you say that you really want to read this interesting book, but you don’t seem to have the time. Well, guess what - reading 2 pages per day, which on average takes about 7-9 minutes, is much better than not reading that book at all, and it will get you through the book.

Some people complain that they don’t have time to exercise. But did you know that most people can run a mile in much less than 10 minutes and get a great work out out of that run which is much, much better than not working out at all?

Some people dream about writing a book, but never get to it, because writing a book is such a time consuming project. But the few people who allocate 30 minutes per day to writing, eventually finish their book and enjoy the satisfaction of sticking to their plan and completing a significant life project.

I am sure you get the idea by now. If you face time management related issue and have a difficulty prioritizing your tasks, keep one important fact in mind: doing something - doing one, little part of your project (whatever it might be) is much better than not doing anything, and it will always bring you closer to the goal that you are after if you stick to it - no matter how small your steps are, because small steps are much better than no steps at all.

Our Virtual Reality Reality

In earlier articles entitled “We Are Not Our Personalities”, “Eliminating the Past” and “Fallacies About the Inner Child” I discuss how, employing a powerful new healing modality called the Mind Resonance Process(TM) (MRP), what we call memories, child ego states (i.e. often referred to as the experience of the inner child) and for that matter entire fragments of our so called past (and therefore our so called personalities) can be completely released from consciousness.

The net experience of doing so leaves the individual with some remarkable experiences of themselves and of their reality. These include an experience and awareness that what they called their personality, which was supposedly the result of the sum total of their life experiences, is in fact not the truth about who they are or who they have ever been.

More specifically they are left with the awareness that the “past” that they call their life actually “didn’t happen” (see my article “Memories Didn’t Happen”). Now I know that this sounds hard to believe because we are so used to thinking of ourselves existing in a reality based on “linear unidirectional time”.

The experience of MRP however reveals that this is just not so!

The memories of supposed events that we hold in our energy fields, and therefore in our consciousness, appear to exist there as “holographic video clips” that play themselves out both consciously (i.e. when we think about them) and unconsciously (i.e. when we are focused on other things) in the now of our experience.

They are like computer programs stored in our bio-fields and that have built into them the illusion of linear time which we then are seduced into accepting as the true nature of our reality. When one is able to release one of these “holographic video clips” from one’s bio-field one is able to recognize them for what they truly are, disruptive energy imprints that are interrupting our true experience of who we are and where we are.

These “holographic video clips” suggest to us that the reality within which we “live” is the real one, that what we experience is “real” and hence we define it as our reality. In fact this is anything but the truth. What we appear to be living in is a virtual reality much like that depicted by the “Holo Deck” experience in the TV Series “Star Trek”.

When we look at the reality that we think of as our reality how do we feel about it? Well most would say that it is filled with pain, suffering and death. Yes, I know that this sounds somewhat drastic and pessimistic but isn’t that what we are doing battle with every “day”?

So, now that one can recognize that the reality that we appear to call reality is in fact a virtual reality and that we can release ourselves from the illusion what kind of reality do we really want for ourselves?

Avoid Getting “Snarled Up” In Details and Save Time

And that’s what every business man is trying to do. So this plan for handling the day’s work is almost bound to contain suggestions that may be north your while.

An executive with an eastern company does not allow himself to get snarled up in a mass of detail, because he has developed a definite plan for each day’s work.

First of all, when he saw his tasks increasing, he established a statistical department, which has become invaluable to him. “With this supply of information at his command at an instant’s notice, he does not have to hold up an expensive proposition while all the facts essential to its completion are gathered from various sources.

This department is really nothing more than an enlarged information file. It keeps this executive in close touch with every branch of his own industry, as well as with market conditions affecting the commodities in which his company deals. It affords him ready access to every feature of operation and maintenance in both the manufacturing and merchandising ends of the business and collects every desirable fact on trade conditions for his use at any time. Articles by financial and trade authorities are also carefully filed for future reference.

As this executive’s product is used in finishing new buildings, he has placed on his desk each day tabulations of the building permits issued throughout the country. Thus, without holding long conferences or wondering over business conditions he can tell at a glance just about what the market possibilities for his product are.

On his desk stands a tickler file. Any proposition that can be decided at once is decided at once. He disciplines himself against even a moment’s waste of time. If it requires investigation and a report, it is ticketed. to the person who is to handle it, with instructions as to when a reply is expected, and a tickler memorandum, is put under that date.

In order to keep his memoranda distinct and different from all other memoranda in the office, he notes them all in purple pencil. In this way he saves considerable time because he does not have to affix his signature or add any unnecessary explanation. Every assistant and employee knows the source of a purple note. This idea of individual pencil colors is carried out by each department head who uses his own particular color, for instance, one blue, one red, another yellow, and still another green.

The executive allows no business to accumulate on his desk. He never permits himself to become tangled up in any routine which is better understood and handled by his lieutenants - and, since it is better understood, is better executed by them. He has clearly defined departmental policies, and details are thus carried into effect by his subordinates without frequent interruptions to consider unimportant details.

Follow this simple technique, and you’ll be able to organize all information you require systematically and saves time.

Gilligan Finds Jesus!

One day Gilligan ventures off as usual into the
jungle. After a few hours the Skipper knows
Gilligan’s absent-minded behavior, gets a little
worried and goes trotting off looking for him.
After a while the Skipper hears Gilligan’s squeaky
voice in the distance yelling, “SKIPPER, SKIPPER,
SKIPPER HELP!!!!”

The Skipper follows his voice
and finds Gilligan stuck in a quicksand pit with
only his head showing above the surface. As usual
Gilligan has got himself in a mess that only the
Skipper can get him out of. The Skipper looks in
disgust, yet with a feeling of no surprise and
reluctances pulls Gilligan out from the pit.
However, not without being tempted to leave his
sorry little skinny self in there. However, here
is what we didn’t see.

While Gilligan was yelling for the Skipper to
rescue him, the boy thrashed around swinging his
arms and reaching for anything that could get him
to a more solid foundation. But, the more he
yells, and the more he thrashes he sinks faster
and further downward into the pit until he is up
to his neck in thick mud. He physically can’t move
his body from the shoulders down. So needless to
say, Gilligan is forced to stop moving and
consequently he stops sinking and buys more time
in order for the Skipper to come rescue him from
the quicksand pit.

The moral of the story is this:
Each one of us has at one time or another found
ourselves in a state of mind like our friend
Gilligan. We struggle in the quicksands of life’s
experiences We get lost from God, bound by Satan’s
lies and we cry out for help. “Oh God, please help
me with this situation. We don’t hear from God on
in our time frame so we think God is not hearing
us. So what do we do then? We yell louder, we
thrash around more by complaining, getting angry
with others and we grow impatient with God. We
might even take on the attitude, “I’ll figure out
a way to get out of this on my own, thank you very
much.”

All the while we keep sinking down, down
and down. Then, when everything has surrounded us
and we have a chokehold of life around our necks
we find ourselves having a feeling of being
paralyzed, weighted down with life’s burdens and
feelings of hopelessness.

But miraculously this is about the time God tends
to show up, so we think. We finally have been
forced to stop trying to do it ourselves; our arms
and self-centered attitudes have been beaten down
to the point of total emotional exhaustion. We
feel we just can’t do this alone and we decide
that our prideful nature has gotten the best of
us, and our way is really getting us nowhere. It
is only then, that we become still in our hearts
and start to listen for that quiet voice of God,
who really has been there all along. When God sees
this he reaches out his hand and pulls us out to
safety and strengthens us with peace once again.
Hopefully, by our own experiences in life we learn
from this old boy Gilligan; living for another
episode of life taking us that much closer into
the presents of God.

Points to Ponder:
Are you growing impatient with God about something
in your life? Are you not trusting him enough and
have the attitude that you can do it yourself? Do
you hear God’s still quiet voice speaking to your
heart, but avoiding it?

The Challenge:
This week take your worries, write them down on
paper. (Be specific) crumple the paper in your
hands and throw it in the trashcan. This will be a
symbol of you trusting God to pull you out of your
quicksand pit. The key is to leave them in the
trash. If you don’t God can’t help you according
to his word. We live by faith not by sight!

Unleash Your Creativity - 7 Common Creative Blocks & How To Overcome Them

As anyone creative knows, being able to unleash your creativity is often easier said than done.

Being more creative would come more readily if it wasn’t for the many different types of creative block we experience as artists and creative people.

But there is hope, and many ways to deal with these creative blocks.

The first step, as with anything that holds us back, is to recognise the block for what it is, throw a light on it, rip off its mask, get it out in the open.

Once we can see what we’re dealing with, part of its power and negative impact is already reduced.

So here are 7 common creative blocks and how you can begin to recognise and overcome them.

Creative Block 1: “I have no new ideas”. You feel like every idea you come up with is just the same as your previous ones, or worse it’s only a weak imitation of a previous one.

Solution: If what you’re doing isn’t working, try something completely different. Radically change one element at least – the medium you’re creating in, the style you’re using, the time you create, where you create. Shake up your routine and see what difference it makes to your creativity and ideas.

Creative Block 2: “I’m scared to create something different”. You feel stuck and limited in what you create but fear trying something different in case it turns out to be disappointing.

Solution: You don’t know until you try. Maybe by writing haikus for a while instead of another novel, you’ll discover a whole new side to your creativity and add a deeper dimension when you return to your previous type of work.

Creative Block 3: “I don’t know how to create anymore”. Maybe it’s been a while – weeks, months, even years – since you last created and you fear you’ve lost the ability.

Solution: Start small and create regularly. Whatever your main creative medium, by committing to a daily journal entry, poem or sketch, and building up the amount you create, you’ll slowly and surely rediscover your creativity.

Creative Block 4: “My work isn’t good enough”. You don’t create because you’re always disappointed in your work or feel others will be.

Solution: Let go of perfectionism! One of the most dangerous creativity killers is trying to create perfectly. Aim instead to create the best expression of your creativity at this time and then move onwards and upwards to your next creative project.

Creative Block 5: “I don’t know what to create.” You have so many ideas and possible projects, you’re just overwhelmed and don’t know where to put your energy and focus first.

Solution: The best place to start is somewhere. It doesn’t matter where you start, just start. Whenever you’re creating, you’re evolving and learning about yourself. Pick one project, commit to give it your best for 2 weeks then review and either continue with it or take what you’ve learnt to a new project.

Creative Block 6: “I always mess up my creative projects”. You feel afraid of creating more because you don’t want to make a mess or “waste” your artist materials or time.

Solution: Often, the joy of creating is in the messy bits! If we never mess up, make mistakes, or create outside our comfort zone, we never progress. Making a mess in the short term leads to a greater knowledge of your creativity in the long term, and therefore more rewarding, fulfilling and enjoyable work.

Creative Block 7: “I never finish a creative project, why bother starting?”. You have a string of unfinished projects hidden away in dark cupboards and are stuck between feeling you should finish them and wanting to start something new.

Solution: You don’t have to finish projects if they’re not working. It’s braver to actually realise that this isn’t the right project for you right now, take what you’ve learnt and apply to something you’re more into, than to freeze up and stop creating altogether. It’s not failure, it’s good self awareness.

These are just 7 of the most common creative blocks we experience.

How many have you been affected by in your creative life?

What steps can you take TODAY to identify just one of these blocks and help you unleash your creativity?

Why Wile E. Coyote Will Never Retire

I don’t want my frail, bony body to crash against the rocks anymore; smashing to smithereens and breaking my dream of success. I want my parachute to open this time, so I may float down gently; not landing with a solid thud. I grow weary of the high walls before me; and all the tries to climb, scale, and jump over these towering stones. Yes, I grow tired, disheartened and sad. I don’t want to be Wile E. Coyote any more; chasing that Road Runner who always outsmarts, eludes, and causes me to live a life of frustration.

Who am I kidding? Without disasters, mishaps, inventions that backfire, and parachutes that fail, my life would lack challenge. Oh sure, we dream of that day when total success finally arrives. We’ve got the Road Runner. But now what? Remember the adage “be careful what you wish for?” It is a simple, and yet deep truth.

Of course, we need to have some reward now and then to keep us going; just a fleeting moment of ALMOST catching the fastest creature in the desert. This is not some ordinary bird; it can outrun a supersonic race car. The chase; the challenge; we must get out there and find a way to nab that pesky, long necked, goofy-looking bird.

Wile E. can’t retire. To sit on the sidelines without an exciting pursuit is a death knell to any rangy desert dweller. Imagine a coyote so portly he can barely stand. Instead of experimenting with Acme gadgetry, he simply chows down at the nearest Coyote Inn Retirement Home.

Another reason Wile E. can’t retire is the loyalty to the Acme Company. He is, after all, one of their biggest customers; all those detonators, parachutes, antigravity shoes, and aerodynamic inventions. Wile E. has access to an array of thingamajigs, doodads, and contraptions. Without Wile E. the company would fold.

Life will go on in this desolate wasteland, where conditions are often harsh and unforgiving. Wile E’s chase for the Road Runner will continue, filled with determination and defeat. No leisure in this area of the world; no resort, no recreation and no time for distraction. As long as a there is a zippy, silly bird to be caught, Wile E. can’t retire.

Beep, Beep.

Spring Fling

Spring is literally bustin’ out all over. Beautiful flowering trees and bushes decorate the landscapes around us as do the early flowering blooms of daffodils, tulips and other spring flowers. This is my favorite time of year because everything is new, fresh and alive, certainly a contrast from the rather dreary dormant winter. Perhaps you share my feelings about spring.

This is a great time for planting in anticipation of the long growing season of summer and fall. It might be that you’re about to undertake various tasks of spring cleaning – your garage, closets, drawers or even the yard debris that accumulated over the winter months.

All of this is important in the physical realm of our existence. It has long been known that in order for new growth to emerge with ease, it is important to clear away the debris. People generally look forward to seeing the first specks of color dotting the landscapes that herald the oncoming of spring. It is refreshing and uplifting to most people as they realize the long winter is about to be left behind in favor of warm days and outdoor time once again.

So let me ask you this. “Are you blooming? Are you bustin’ out all over with your brilliance? Are you alive with excitement for all that your life is bringing to you right now?” If you are in this place I applaud you, but if you don’t feel that daily excitement for your life, I invite you to read further and find out how to know this kind of living.

As an individual becomes aware of their life purpose, their internal seams feel as if they are continually bustin’ out all over. It’s not that every day brings big changes or opportunities, but every day is an exciting step toward furthering their purpose. Your life purpose is the inborn unique gift you came into this life experience to share with the world, and this purpose is the most important reason for your existence. It will literally transform your life from the inside out!

You see, the joy and happiness that you and most individuals continually seek to experience, is something that must be created from within each person. An everlasting happiness cannot be brought to you from anything or anyone outside of you. Finding your soulmate for example, as wonderful as that can be, does not bring you internal happiness. Although the connection to that person can certainly add a great deal of happiness to your life, it is not what creates your happiness. Things can change oftentimes during our life experience, particularly in relationships, and they can sometimes change in the blink of an eye. What was once the epitome of a happy relationship can be altered by one moment in time, one choice, one behavior.

However, knowing that your happiness is guaranteed to last when it comes from within you is quite comforting to know. People long for security and want to feel safe, but the only thing that is really secure and keeps you excited about life is what you are giving back of you from love. So that brings me back to understanding and actively moving forward with your purpose in life.

What is purpose? Purpose is that inner passion – something that you love and feel genuinely excited about doing and giving. It also involves helping others which is the noblest of responsibilities. It may not even have a paycheck attached to it as you begin doing it, but at some point it probably will. And it literally becomes your life so that it is impossible to detect where the person and the work begin or end – all is combined as one whole.

Perhaps you’re wondering how to discover your purpose if it’s so important for your life. You may have a great job but it doesn’t fill you up, it simply pays your bills. It is of course necessary to pay your bills, but if your job isn’t filling you up with excitement and creativity, then it cannot be your purpose.

Look back over your life up to now. What lessons or experiences have helped you grow and become a stronger individual: illness, job loss or changes, divorce, death of a loved one, empty nest, or narrow escape? Perhaps part of your purpose is to help others as they go through similar journeys so that they have support and wisdom from you. I know without a shadow of doubt that the illness I experienced 13 years ago, and the eventual healing that I created within me, was in preparation to help many on their path to wholeness in all dimensions. Without the experience I wouldn’t have the knowledge or insights to help these individuals. Ask yourself what you absolutely love to do, you know, what brings a real smile to your face? These answers can possibly direct you toward your purpose for being here.

In my book, “The Realness of a Woman,” I devote an entire chapter to finding your life purpose. It includes an exercise with 24 questions that can help you uncover your passion, and I use this often as I coach individuals who want direction in their life. Another way to find your purpose might be to sit quietly and ask for divine guidance. Ask God to help you discover what your purpose is and always express your willingness to move forward once you know that direction. When you ask, it is given, all in divine timing!

Understand that your purpose can change from time to time, although I’ve found that each step builds from the last one and is totally connected. Moving in another direction simply means you’re growing, and growth is vitally important for living your potential.

This is the most important thing you can ever do for your life, and as I said, it will literally become your life. This is how you obtain true happiness and contentment in your life, and what makes you jump out of bed in the morning with excitement for another day to live your purpose. I implore you to find your purpose and then take action to move forward with it. It will change your life in every way!

If you’re feeling lost or stuck and need some guidance, perhaps it would be good to seek out a spiritual wholeness coach who can help you. Don’t let another day go by without taking that life-changing step to find your purpose.

The Easiest Way to Overcome Vanity

Vanity - it’s easy to mask, easy to forget, and easy to justify. We hide it behind dignity and poise. The sins connected to this weakness aren’t quite as severe as those associated with pride, gluttony, and lust. But it can eventually lead up to some serious problems. And it can keep us from becoming an instrument of Christ.

The solution (humility) might be one of the most difficult virtues to master, but John the Baptist seems to have had a pretty good handle on it. Here’s the guy who baptized Christ, and later sends his own followers away because he knows his time is over. So what was his secret? How do we stop worrying about our own worldly décor, and start the journey to becoming Christ’s hand maid? The answer is self-love.

It might not sound like part of our Christian philosophy, but with the proper back drop, you can maintain selflessness and self-love in a co-existing format. How? By knowing our own self-worth, where our value comes from, and how to improve it.

So what are we worth? Let’s start with the simple fact that we’re creations of God. And since God doesn’t make trash, that says pretty much for us. Now look at the fact that Christ Himself became man, suffered, and dies for us. Wow! That raises the value pot even more. We’re actually worth the life of God.

Why are we so valuable? Because God made us. That’s it. There’s nothing more. All that we’ve accomplished, our assets, and our actions mean absolutely nothing. In other words, our nice house, perfect hair, & stylish clothing are worthless. Our career and community stature are meaningless. Even our good and charitable works do nothing to make us better.

This almost answers the next question. ‘How do we improve ourselves?’ But it only almost answers it, because it doesn’t address the fact that God not only created us, but continues to work through us. So even though we can’t improve ourselves at all, we can let God do it. Give Him control, and He’ll make us better, reject Him, and our value will drop.

So by knowing, and loving ourselves, and desiring to make ourselves better, we can forget about the worldly illusions of greatness. We can overcome the vanity that might keep God from acting through us.

Getting Over Disappointments

Disappointments happen to all of us. No matter where we are, who we are or what vocation we are involved in, disappointments are bound to happen sooner or later.
Even in the closest of relationships, including family, friends or associates, disappointments do happen.

For many people, when they face disappointments from people, their common reaction is to withdraw from other people around them. They take the issue or event very hard, and avoid other people. They seem to want to take out the anger of their negative experiences on other people.

For a long time, such people remain out of touch, withdraw into their shell, throw pity parties and just remain incommunicado.
Others keep the memories of the hurts for so long that it keeps on hurting them again and again.

The best way to handle disappointments, when they come is to first of all avoid the source. Don’t hang around in the same place where the event or person that caused the hurt in the first case has a large presence.

Staying on there will keep on reminding you of the event, and cause you much pain and grief.
The best way to be detached in such a case is to remove yourself far from the source of the disappointment. You might need to relocate to another place, avoid contact with the person or place or you might have to change a few things around you so that you don’t have to focus on the negative development.

You might need to change your circle of friends. The point is that certain things have to change in your life in the immediate, after you have experienced a case of disappointment.

Secondly, you need to get some one you can trust to talk to about your experience. This could be a trusted friend, a counselor, a minister or mentor. You need someone on whose shoulders you can cry. You need someone whom you can bare out your mind to, without any fear or shame.
You don’t need a critical person, who is going to criticize you at that moment when you are low. You need someone who will allow you to cry, express your frustrations and emotions without condemning you either in words or actions.

Don’t be ashamed to pour out your mind to this person. It helps to really talk when you are faced with an experience like this.
Talking it out is part of your healing process and will help you to get over the disappointing experience faster.
